About this manuscript. Escape from Cinema is a web-first manuscript, the first volume of Zicobita. It is a living draft, released in versions (0.1 → 1.0) and locked only when the Bangla spine is complete.

Sources and method. The texts come from my own Facebook posts and the zicobaji blog, 2016–2020 — with one 2015 prelude and one 2020 epilogue. Originals keep their dates. Some were re-lineated or trimmed in 2026; those are marked curated-extract. Promotion, event results, guest biographies, and media coverage are kept in a private archive, not here.

Register. The Bangla is unstandardized on purpose; the colloquial register is the voice, not an error.

Technical. Built with Zola and hand-written Markdown, one stylesheet; published from Git to Cloudflare Pages at ishtiaquezico.com. IndieWeb, boring tech, on purpose.

The author. Ishtiaque Zico is a filmmaker, curator, and teacher turning toward research and an unlearning practice. His short film 720 Degrees was the first Bangladeshi film at the Venice Film Festival (Orizzonti nomination); he played Ajit in A Land Imagined (Golden Leopard, Locarno 2018); he ran Biralpakhi Cine Club, 2016–2019.
