Vibe coding does to software what vertical feeds did to cinema. The new industry slogan: anybody can create. But who is “anybody”? Who has the surplus bandwidth, the machine-readable communication skills, the fluency with new tools. They can generate video or code with less cognitive friction, less money, fewer physical tools. And the unasked part: create for whom? For the feed. For the platform. Platforms expanded access. But access was not the problem. The problem is who decides: where to stop, at what cost, on whose platform. The tools shipped without those questions. The old struggle was over the tools of production: Cocteau’s pencil, Sembene’s camera. The new struggle is monopoly over the vendor-locked pipeline that decides what gets seen. Who audits the pipeline’s defaults?
